NYSUT Supports SUNY Trustees Disapproval of Conzatti as NCC President

We learned on Friday, Nov 14, 2025, that the SUNY Board of Trustees had voted to disapprove CAO Conzatti’s permanent appointment as President at NCC. (https://www.suny.edu/about/leadership/board-of-trustees/meetings/webcastdocs/Reso_ActingOnaProposedAppointment_November2025.pdf)   We support SUNY’s efforts to ensure that NCC has leadership that aligns with the mission of the institution to provide a quality education, and our parent union, NYSUT, immediately issued a statement supporting SUNY (https://www.nysut.org/news/2025/november/suny-trustees-statement). The NCCFT acknowledges CAO Conzatti’s long service to the College and looks forward to working with the NCC Board

Gratitude and Support for Retirees

A big shout-out is due to NCCFT retirees politically active in our Retiree Chapter—and to those active in the Nassau NYSUT retiree Councils  in general — because their active engagement with our political process paid off in wins for public K-12 and higher education in the last election!  NYSUT President Melinda Person noted its impact in Nassau.   We are happy to see Cynthia Nunez elected to the Nassau Legislature; Ms. Nunez fought hard to bring back quality programming at her

NCC Administration Stalls Promotions and Sabbaticals During Contract Negotiations

The College appears to be using promotions and sabbaticals as leverage in the negotiation process. To be clear, we will not accept any proposals that severely undermine our collective voice and, by extension, our ability to provide quality

NCCFT Files Appeal of Court Decision: We Will Continue to Fight for Student Services and Educational Quality

On September 5, 2025, we filed, with the assistance of our parent union NYSUT’s office of general counsel, an appeal with the Appellate Division, continuing our legal challenge against the college administration’s elimination of 15 department chairperson positions.  Our appeal challenges the college’s elimination of department chairpersons with specialized expertise in their fields who provided crucial academic leadership and student support. The case seeks to ensure that Nassau Community College lives up to its stated mission of providing quality education.
