We are very proud to share that Gov. Kathy Hochul has named history professor Dr. Leonardo Falcón, a tenured Assistant Professor at NCC, as Director in Residence for SUNY’s Leadership Institutes. Dr. Falcón’s work coordinating Latin American Studies as well as his work securing grant money and founding LA CASA at NCC are among his significant achievements leading up to this appointment. LA CASA, which emphasizes a relational educational experience, is a resource available to all students; it also highlights Latinx and minority experiences to create a space where these students feel welcomed and valued.
We are happy to see John Asbury’s article in Newsday published the news: “Dr Hazel Dukes Fellowship awarded to Albany professor; NCC Instructor Named to SUNY’s Leadership Institutes.”
It is wonderful for Dr. Falcón and NCC. We hope that the NCC administration will support this important work for the whole SUNY system by providing time and travel support.
