The Executive Committee of the NCCFT is disappointed to report that the College has declined to execute a side letter with the union (as they have done in the past) to grant promotions and sabbaticals while a new contract is being negotiated. The College appears to be using promotions and sabbaticals as leverage in the negotiation process. To be clear, we will not accept any proposals that severely undermine our collective voice and, by extension, our ability to provide quality education to our students. We are dismayed by this decision, especially since we believed progress had been made during the previous negotiating session.
We advise members to continue with the promotion and sabbatical processes, as we remain hopeful that a fair successor agreement will be reached. We also urge all members to check their HR folders to ensure all employment documents are present and accurate.
If you are applying for promotion or sabbatical, please contact the NCCFT office directly, at nccft@ncc.edu so we can maintain a record of your application. Please note that tenure and promotions for LINCC members are NOT sunset in the contract; therefore, the College remains contractually obligated to approve them.
