Join us for NYSTRS’ New Member Orientation, a live, interactive session designed to give new members a broad overview of the benefits available through the New York State Teachers’ Retirement System.
Topics will include:
- Understanding how a defined benefit pension plan works
- Loans and death benefits
- Key service credit milestones
- Pension calculation basics
- Pursuing uncredited prior NYS public employment
- Combining memberships from other NYS public retirement systems with your NYSTRS membership
- The advantages of also contributing to a defined contribution plan (such as a 403(b))
