Alumni Lawsuits Put NCC Campus Climate in Spotlight

The NCCFT will continue our efforts to improve campus climate, but we are still waiting for the NCC administration to have a plan for improving campus climate.  The Middle States Commission on Higher Education reaffirmed NCC for accreditation in the summer 2025 with the condition that a report, including actions to improve campus climate, be sent by February 2026. The following Newsday and Southshore Press articles covering the lawsuit of former NCC students Jordan Groom and Grant Peterson against Chief Administrative Officer Maria Conzatti, David Oyero, Charmian Smith, and Craig Wright for discrimination and violation of their First and Fourteenth Amendment Rights is one example of NCC’s harmful campus climate.

In the interim, we ask members to stay together in solidarity and protect our students and the quality of their education by strictly adhering to our contract and by declining to approve actions by the administration that harm NCC’s mission.
