NYSUT has requested our participation in its efforts to elect pro-union, pro-education candidates such as Laura Gillen and John Brooks in the upcoming elections. This is a highly competitive election cycle with pro-union and pro-public education majorities at stake. NYSUT has historically played a significant role in these elections, and we can make the difference in very close races. The NYSUT Regional Political Organizer, Zach Baum, and PAC have organized a number of upcoming actions to engage the membership:
- Participate in the Virtual phone bank from home; login to openvpb.com and make calls at home when you have time (and at generally good times to reach people).
- Participate in Labor walks —- door knocks to fellow NYSUT members. Below are the dates.
Suffolk County (For Bridget Fleming, Steve Englebright, and Cooper Macco)
Tuesday, October 18th at 4:00PM
18 Woods Corner Road, Setauket
Thursday, November 3rd at 4:00PM
5025 Jericho Turnpike, Commack
Nassau County (For Laura Gillen & John Brooks)
Saturday, October 22nd at 10:00AM
182 Merrick Road, Lynbrook
Tuesday, November 1st at 4:30PM
2813 North Jerusalem Road, East Meadow
We need to strengthen our union’s standing in the county and the state. To do that we must participate in these critical activities. For our future, we must keep and place pro-union, pro-education elected officials in all levels of government.
